ABOUT

My name is ERIKA TUMIENĖ. Who was born and raised in city of Klaipeda, currently living and creating in Vilnius, Lithuania. I am an artist, illustrator and maker of Christmas decorations. My most commonly used technique is water colour. Topics that interest me are person’s relations with inner self and with the environment. My creations are dominated by figurine compositions, bright emotions and colours, everyday things and elements of nature. Botanical ornamental details are also common. Musical theme also plays important part in my creations. I study effect of sound of musical instrument to a human being and his/her emotions. I like to analyse musician’s everyday life. The theme of music has been accompanying me for many years now. I’m particularly interested in the state of listener, in effect that music has on its player and its listener. Facial expressions of the musician, the thoughts of the listener. I’m particularly fascinated by conductor’s movements, emotions in the eyes and hands. I’m curious about everyday life of composer, his creative moments at the sheet of music, intimate moment of rehearsal. I admire all of the musical instruments – all of them have their own colors of mood: fiddling violin during spring time, the sound of piano in solitude, haunting cello among red and yellow autumn leaves. I want to stop that melodic moment and its beauty. I want my drawing to play. I also like more playful theme – creating cute animals, picture their life, worries of everyday life. These small creatures by accident became one of my biggest hobbies – creating Christmas decorations. I’m really glad that these little animals have captured your attention.
